Coimbatore celebrates 67 years of Independence in a unique manner!
To live as independent Indians would not have been possible without the struggle and sacrifice of freedom fighters who were ready to give up their lives for the country and its people. It is important that we recall the valient efforts of our martyrs at least on this auspicious day.
August 15th …………
- a day to celebrate,
- a day to pay tribute to thousands who sacrificed their all for the cause,
- a day to pledge our commitment to carry the torch into the future.
A fitting Independence day was celebrated by rolling out the tricolor spanning a distance of 3.5 km and unveiling of 126 portraits of unsung heroes who valiantly fought for our Independence. The event was celebrated amidst great splendor, joy and respect for Mother India all around the inner circle of Race Course at Coimbatore over 2 days from 14th August to 15th August 2014.
The event was organized in order to bring together the people of Coimbatore to celebrate our Independence in a befitting manner. Young and old, irrespective of caste, creed and religion came together to hold the Indian flag with pride. Their voices shouting “Vande Mataram” reverberated across the entire place expressing solidarity and dedication to Bharat Matha.
Our heartfelt congratulations to the efforts put in by Shri V. Nandakumar and his team from Universal Brotherhood Association, along with various other groups in Coimbatore – RAAC, TASK, Indian Chamber of Commerce, Lions International 324- B1, Perur Adheenam, Siravai Adheenam, Coimbatore District United Jamath, Coimbatore Catholic Diocese and Youth Foundation for making it a memorable Independence Day.
