A main challenge in maintaining the planted saplings is protecting it from the claws of urban development. Identifying protected locations for planting trees and utilizing it with the support of localites is the only solution to this. The first of its kind tree plantation drive was initiated in collaboration with Southern Railways, on Friday, 29th June 2012, at the Railway Quarters premises located at Podanur. This plantation programme is a pilot project for Siruthuli whereby Corporates join hands with us to create large lung-spaces within the city. This particular project is supported by a German Multinational – M/s Robert Bosch, as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. All the saplings will be irrigated through a drip irrigation system to ensure 100% survival of the saplings.

On June 29th, Mr. Grote Walter, a Senior Executive of the Company from Germany and several Senior Executives from M/s Robert Bosch located in Coimbatore took part in the inauguration. The Forest Department is also extending their support to the project and DFO Shri V Thirunavukkarasu IFS was also a part of the green initiative..
