Coimbatore Big Tank (Periakulam), which is located at the heart of the city, is a major tank in the whole Noyyal River system which can store upto 69.501 M Cu ft of rain water. This tank with a total tank bed area of 320 acres was desilted by Siruthuli in 2005 thus reclaiming about 300 acres of tank bed area.

During the past 5 years of time, the tank is again silted up and polluted, thus reducing its water storing capacity. Siruthuli had taken up the renovation and desiltation of this tank so as to benefit the public of Coimbatore. With the support and contribution of Government Bodies, Corporate Houses and Public we were able to desilt the 320 acres of tank before the monsoon and the work was successfully completed for the monsoon showers to fill up the tank with copious amount of clear water.
