Clean India Movement on October 2nd on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi

Responding to the Prime Minister’s clarion call on October 2, 2014 for a clean India, Team Siruthuli along with volunteers from various NGOs – Siruthuli, RAAC, Lead India 2020, TASK, MC3 My City Clean City, Thiyana Pothu Sevai Maiyam – and students of Avinashilingam University, Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science, CMS Higher Secondary School participated in the cleaning activity at Railway junction. Shri Shubranshu, IRES, DRM, Salem initiated the cleanliness drive. The entire Coimbatore Railway junction was cleaned by the volunteers and students. The launch of Swachh Bharat on Gandhi Jayanthi was phenomenal and showed promises to achieve its motive, with every Indian doing his/her bit to keep the environment clean and green.

The Swachh Bharat has made a greater impact with Panchayats and residential associations coming forward to clean their own vicinities. Siruthuli in Association with RAAC & Radio City 91.1 have adopted 3 places in Coimbatore, where there is a dire need to transform environment into a clean and hygienic one. To begin with, we have taken up Bharathi Park, Chinniampalayam Panchayat and a colony near the Periakulam. We invite more residential associations to come forward to form task forces to wage a war on waste.
