Dr R V Ramani

Founder and Managing Trustee, Sankara Eye Care and Institutions

Dr. R. V. Ramani is the Founder and Managing Trustee of Sankara Eye Care Institutions, under which he has established over 14 eye hospitals across India.

He was selected as a Group Study Exchange Team Member by Rotary International and visited the United States as a Goodwill Ambassador in 1980. He was also appointed by the Government of India as one of two non-governmental working group members for the Vision 2020 programme.

Dr. Ramani was conferred the Padma Shri in 2019 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Medical Association in 2014. His numerous honours include the Vaidya Ratna Award and Rotary Club of Singapore’s Award for Humanitarian Service for the “Gift of Vision” project in Cambodia.
