Raised ₹7 lakh+ through CRI Pumps and Suriya's contributions towards Noyyal restoration

Project Details

On 14 July 2006, Siruthuli launched Noyyalukku Nooru, a unique awareness and fundraising initiative to bring the Noyyal River closer to the people of Coimbatore.

Actor Suriya spent an entire day travelling across the city, lending his voice and presence to the cause of restoring the Noyyal. The campaign brought together corporates, employees, college students, donors, the media and citizens across different sections of society.

The day began at CRI Pumps, where employees and management came together to contribute towards the restoration of the Noyyal. Awareness programmes followed at PSG College of Arts & Science and Hindusthan College of Arts & Science, where students were encouraged to see the Noyyal as a precious legacy inherited from previous generations, one that must be protected for those to come.

At VOC Park, citizens from all walks of life gathered to support the cause. The day concluded with an evening programme at PSGIM featuring music, dance and a short film on Siruthuli and the Noyyal, alongside an appeal to protect Coimbatore's river. Suriya also personally contributed towards the cause.
