Watch your Waste
Project Details
A stream can carry more than water. It can also carry everything a city carelessly throws away.
As part of the Gandhima Nagar Stream Restoration Project, Siruthuli, in collaboration with Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation and PSG Group, organised Watch Your Waste to bring this message closer to the community.
The community clean-up drive began at RTO Ground and covered a 450-metre stretch towards GV Residency. Residents, volunteers, students and civic stakeholders came together to remove waste and understand how indiscriminate dumping affects streams, water bodies, groundwater and public health.
The message was simple: cleaning a stream is only one part of restoration. Preventing waste from entering it is what makes the change last. Watch Your Waste is a reminder that every piece of waste we prevent from reaching a stream is a step towards a cleaner Noyyal and a healthier Coimbatore. What are the Benefits?
- Engaged local residents, students and volunteers in protecting their neighborhood waterway.
- Created awareness on responsible waste disposal and the consequences of dumping waste into streams.
- Connected community action with the larger restoration of the Gandhima Nagar Stream.
- Reinforced the idea that protecting water bodies begins with everyday choices.
