Raja Oorani
Project Details
For years, Raja Oorani in Thirumayam served as a primary drinking water source for over 1,000 households across three villages. However, declining water levels during summer, poorly defined bunds, and unrestricted animal access led to contamination and reduced reliability of this critical resource.
With the support of AMM Foundation and EID Parry India Ltd, Siruthuli undertook the rejuvenation of the pond through systematic desilting, bund strengthening, and protective measures to restore both capacity and water quality. Ongoing fencing works and the installation of a new access gate are ensuring that the oorani remains protected from animal intrusion.
