Arumuga Koundanur, Perur Chettipalayam Village Panchayat

Desilting and revival of a 3.64-acre village pond through tank bed excavation, Bund strengthening, Inlet and surplus channel improvement and Repair of surplus weir structures.

Project Details

Arumuga Koundanur Kuttai has long been a lifeline for the village, quietly supporting farming and daily needs. Over time, silt, blocked inlets and damaged structures reduced its capacity, leaving wells dry and livelihoods under strain. In 2020, with CSR support from Bosch, Siruthuli undertook the careful restoration of this traditional pond. Shrubs were cleared, the tank bed was desilted up to the gravel layer to protect natural filtration, and the excavated earth was used to strengthen bunds. Inlet channels were reopened, the surplus weir repaired, and gentle slopes created to welcome livestock and birds. As the pond reclaimed its depth, groundwater levels began to rise, bringing visible relief to farmers who once struggled to grow even basic crops. Today, Arumuga Koundanur Kuttai stands renewed, quietly storing rain, replenishing wells, and reminding the community of the power of thoughtful water stewardship.
