Project Details

Built in 1995 across the Mundandurai stream, the water resources department check dam had served the region for years, until time took its toll. By 2013, leakages began appearing in the RR masonry wall, and decades of siltation reduced its storage capacity. As groundwater levels dipped, the Thondamuthur Farmers Association approached Siruthuli and PWD WRD with one urgent request: restore the check dam before the southwest monsoon.

With WRD's permission and technical guidance, Siruthuli constructed a skin wall to arrest leakages and desilted the water impounding area, reviving the structure’s original purpose.
